TENGA
Terms & privacy
What to expect when you browse, create an account or place a test order on Tenga.
Updated 5 November 2026
1. About this website
Tenga is an SIA1102 group e-commerce project. It demonstrates product browsing, store filters, accounts, shopping bags and checkout. It is currently a demonstration rather than an operational marketplace. By creating an account or submitting a test order, you agree to use it on that basis.
2. Your account
You can browse and try checkout without an account. An account lets you sign in and view your order history. Use a password you do not use elsewhere and keep it private. Do not create an account using another person’s identity or email address. Public demo buyer and seller accounts are available for testing. Their passwords are shared, so do not put personal information in them. Demo sellers can manage only their assigned store; they do not have administrator access.
Use fictional contact and address details when testing checkout. Never enter identity documents, financial credentials or other sensitive information.
3. Stores, products & prices
The listed stores are fictional sample stores. Their displayed cities are part of the sample data, not pickup addresses. No seller verification, business affiliation or physical presence is claimed.
Product photos are illustrative stock photos. Names, specifications, prices and stock levels are demonstration content. All prices are in US dollars (USD). Stock can change as people place successful test orders. Photos do not establish a brand, warranty or product specification.
4. Orders & simulated payments
Checkout offers simulated card and mobile-money methods. Tenga does not request a card number, security code, mobile-money PIN or banking password. Selecting a payment method does not contact a payment provider.
- A successful simulation saves a confirmed test order, reduces sample stock and clears your bag.
- A declined simulation records the failed attempt and leaves your bag and sample stock unchanged.
- The order reference is for demonstration purposes. It is not a payment receipt or evidence of a real purchase.
You can choose a successful or declined result under “Payment simulation options” at checkout. No money is charged, held or refunded.
5. Delivery, pickup & returns
Delivery adds a simulated $4 USD charge to the order total. Pickup is free in the simulation. No goods are dispatched, no pickup location is assigned and no delivery date is promised. Because there is no real sale, this demo does not process returns, exchanges or refunds.
6. Privacy & cookies
When you create an account, Tenga stores your name, email address and a password hash. It also stores shopping sessions, bag contents and test orders. Orders include the contact details, delivery details, selected payment method and simulated result you submit.
This information is stored in the Tenga project’s separate MariaDB database. It is used to operate the demonstration, display your order history and test the project. Project administrators with database access can access stored records. We do not claim end-to-end encryption or anonymity.
The tenga_session cookie identifies your session and keeps your account and bag available. It is an essential HttpOnly cookie with a seven-day lifetime. Clearing it or signing out ends access to that session’s bag; signed-in accounts retain their recorded order history. This site does not add advertising trackers.
The hosting, tunnel and server services process requests to serve the site and may retain operational logs. Demo database records currently have no automatic deletion schedule and may be cleared during project testing. Do not rely on the project for permanent storage. For a data question or removal request, contact the project team through the channel where you received the demo link.
7. Acceptable use
Use the site for browsing and reasonable project testing. Do not attempt to access another person’s account or orders, submit malicious content, overload the service or bypass access controls. Access may be restricted to protect the project and its users.
8. Availability, changes & questions
This is a work in progress. Features, sample listings and stored test records can change, and the service may be unavailable during maintenance. Any future real marketplace will need updated seller, payment, delivery, returns and privacy arrangements before accepting real purchases.
Questions about the demo or these terms can be directed to the project team through the channel where you received this link.
